The model 8826 Lasercheck Sensor is our most compact sensor head. The compact housing contains all electronics, optics and mechanical mounts to allow measurements on surfaces smoother than 2.0 microinches to as rough as 80 microinches. The head is brought in contact with the surface to be measured by an operator manually positioning it or through robotic positioners in an automated system. Convenient tapped and drilled holes on the head aid in automation mounting. Optional positioning / alignment fixtures are available to ensure repeatable positioning on a surface for manual measurement operations.

A Class 2 visible laser beam is directed at the surface to be measured. The distribution of reflected and scattered laser radiation from the surface is measured by the integrated compact bank of sensors inside the head. Precise values form all sensors are ported to Lasercheck electronics for digitzing, and software analysis to convert surface signals to precise Ra roughness values all in a fraction of a second. 8826 Lasercheck heads are ideal for measurement of journals and lobes on automotive crankshafts and camshafts. Measurement time, precision, and confidence are improved over any competitive measurement instruments.
