Lasercheck® 6212A System for centerless through-feed grinders

Grinding Surface Roughness Measurement SystemAutomated through feed grinders are capable of producing large volume of precision cylindrical parts for a variety of industries. Precision and reliability of the grinders has improved due to many advances, including feedback from gaging systems that monitor the grinding machine and the parts it produces. Previously, ground parts were measured long after their grinding. The Lasercheck systems enable in-line measurements of all parts immediately after grinding, permitting better quality control and process feedback.

The Lasercheck 6212A automated roughness gage is mounted at the output of the centerless grinder. Parts are conveyed beneath the sensor for automatic, in-line measurements. Roughness data allow operators to adjust the grinding process to improve part quality and production yield. Schmitt Industries offers a full line of accessories, including software, automated part sorting hardware and feedback outputs about process conditions.

This popular application is being employed by many users around the world. 100% automated inspection ensures them that all customer-bound parts meet roughness specifications. Additionally, valuable real-time process feedback has provided operators with valuable process improvement information that has helped to reduce costs while improving surface quality.
